England midfielder Declan Rice says the England squad has continued to improve. He showing a higher quality level than before.
The Lions defeated Hungary 4-0 in their World Cup qualifying European Group I clash on Thursday night, giving the Three Lions a run of four wins.
Declan Rice says the England squad has continued to improve.
“It’s important to get results. We should be a happy team in the summer. Made it to the final since 1966, but from the start of the week one of the ideas was ‘come here, get 3 points, start strong’.
“We have a great group of players. The manager and Steve (Holland, assistant manager) clearly backed us up. And we are continuing to maintain the results. I think tonight is true, top performance and really good mentality.
“We know how Hungary is, they lead France and Germany 1-0, so it was a game where we had to move and we had to pass the ball quickly. And in the second half we knew they were tired. They couldn’t keep up with our quality long enough. And in the end, scoring four goals was a great night.”
