Thyroid treatment

For those who are diagnosed with thyroid disorders. There different treatment approaches depending on the type of thyroid disease and the severity of the disorder. 

  • For hyperthyroidism or toxic thyroid disease
    • Antithyroid medication: The drug reduces the synthesis of thyroid hormones. When hormone levels drop, the abnormalities caused by excess hormones disappear. 
    • Treatment with ingestion of iodine-131 
    • Thyroid surgery reduces the size of ทางเข้า ufabet the thyroid gland. When the thyroid gland is small, the production of thyroid hormones is also reduce.
  • For hypothyroidism or underactive thyroid
    • Treatment is with the drug Levothyroxine to increase the body’s thyroid hormone levels to normal. Patients must take the drug continuously to maintain thyroid hormone levels.
  • For thyroiditis
    • Take anti-inflammatory medications, such as steroids.
    • Taking thyroid hormones in chronic cases
  • For enlarged thyroid gland
    • If the lump is not cancerous and does not cause any abnormal symptoms, treatment may not be required, but regular follow-up is recommend. However, if the thyroid lump is large enough to cause difficulty swallowing or breathing, surgery may be performe to reduce the size of the lump.
    • If it is thyroid cancer, it may be treate with surgery. Which can done either through open neck surgery or endoscopic surgery.
